You Owe 5 Months Salary, Bayelsa Workers Tell Dickson

Speaking with NAIJ, Kemepador Isaac President of Bayelsa Workers Unity Forum said his group condemned in its entirety the lies of the governor on national TV and wish to draw the attention of Nigerians to the fact that LGA workers and pensioners in Bayelsa have not been paid for over 5months now.
“The LGA workforce constitute over 75% of workers in the state and therefore wonder why a governor of a state will be claiming he’s not owing salaries when over 75% of the workforce have not been paid” .

“This is a lie as we are being owed over 4month salaries in all the various LGAs in the state. In fact the LGAs Chairmen complain of lack of funds to run their LGAs. There’s no LGA in Bayelsa that is not owing salaries of workers”
“The governor also lied that he does not interfere in the running of the LGAs in the state. We say categorically that this is another lie as it is common knowledge in the state and among civil servants that the governor is the Accountant General and the de-facto commissioner of finance as no money can be disbursed without his express approval.
“Our LGA Chairmen are just like his aides who are at his mercy. The governor disburses all funds personally no matter how small. It is therefore, a lie for him to go on national TV and give a very false impression that he has given our LGAs autonomy which is far fetched. LGAs in our dear state have failed completely because the governor has crippled them and they are under-funded. If you go round our 8 LGAs in the state, you will be amazed at the level of decay and abandonment because they have no funds to function.

There is no LGA in Bayelsa where the LGA authority is carrying out any project in the last 2years because if you ask them, they will tell you all the funds are with governor Dickson. The only LGA that get some little level of funding is Yenegoa and Ogbia LGAs because of the eye service he puts up for the former president since Otuoke is in Ogbia LGA and the former president visits Yenagoa frequently but the state has since long failed. Our LGAs have all failed because of the way the governor has over interfered in their administration”he told NAIJ.
All the staff even in his government house have not also been paid, so who are the people governor Dickson keeps saying he is paying? Are they ghosts? Bayelsa is a very small state and as such the workers in the ministries in Yenagoa are very few but the bulk of our state’s workforce are in the LGAs and the governor has not paid us.
Meanwhile, a digital surveillance firm, Hacking Team, employed by the Bayelsa state Governor, Seriake Dickson, to spy and clampdown on internet users was Sunday night hacked.
